Boleslawiec has long been home to stoneware producers
and is known for its white clay excellent for pottery-making.
Its pottery was famous on the European markets for both its
usefulness and artistic value. During World War II, 80% of
the numerous plants were destroyed and their machines and equipment
lost. In the 1950s, Ceramika Artystyczna was founded and production
of Polish pottery began. New patterns for the ceramics were
developed. The plant had its own designers and a unique artistic
technique that represented local tradition, as well as the
trends of contemporary design. Ceramika Artystyczna has continued
developing its unique designs for the last 50 years. |

Polish Pottery Care Instructions

| Despite its stunning beauty, Ceramika Artystyczna's Polish
pottery is very durable, and can be used and enjoyed every
day. Firing temperatures exceeding 2450°F account for
the durability of this pottery. The glaze results in an ultra-smooth
finish for easy cleaning. It is lead- and cadmium-free and
safe for use in freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher. It
is non-toxic and resists scratching and chipping. |

| To ensure even heat distribution and prevent cracking, it
is recommended that a small amount of liquid be added to a
baker if the entire bottom surface is not covered. Do not use
polish pottery to bake at temperatures exceeding 400°F.
Pottery should not be placed on direct heat such as a stove
top or grill. Pottery that has been frozen should be brought
to room temperature before being put in the oven. |
